Welcome to the website for the Postgraduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania
The Postgraduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania (PMCT) is responsible for the education and training of doctors in their early postgraduate years (PGY1 to PGY3) and the accreditation of training sites and training posts for junior doctors in Tasmania.
In addition, PMCT has a robust International Medical Graduate (IMG) program which provides assistance with AMC Exam Preparation and general support to IMGs working within the state's public hospital system. In Tasmania IMGs contribute significantly to the provision of medical services and patient care in the Tasmanian public hospital system where around 25% of the resident medical staff are IMGs. Tasmania's reliance on an overseas trained medical workforce exceeds that of most other states.
